Description

The primary responsibility of the Retail Assistant Manager is to assist and support the retail manager in executing all functions of the retail store. To cultivate an enthusiastic, motivated and hard-working team player environment that is conducive to making firearm related sales safely and successfully.

Responsibilities

  • Providing customer service to ensure customers have a pleasant, positive and educated shopping experience, to encourage positive word-of-mouth referrals
  • Maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor at all times with an outstanding work ethic
  • To provide leadership skills and genuine understanding of the retail operation.
  • Ability to substitute for the Retail Manager when he/she is unavailable
  • Commitment to the development and growth of people, sales and profitability
  • Maintains store staff by recruiting, selecting and training employees
  • Manages store staff by training, coaching, counseling and disciplining employees.
  • Continuously reviewing, planning, monitoring and appraising job/team results
  • Maintains the stability and reputation of the store by complying with legal requirements
  • Protects employees and customers by providing a safe and clean store environment
  • Greeting, assisting and responding to customer inquiries and complaints in a manner that is in line with company values
  • Secure merchandise by implementing security systems and measures to keep shrinkage rates low
  • Evaluating store operations to find inefficiencies and create a plan to streamline the procedures
  • Identify current and future customer requirements by establishing rapport with potential and actual customers and other persons in a position to understand service requirements
  • Maintaining a clean, organized and stocked retail floor to include identifying stagnant merchandise. Working with buyer on best merchandising practices and implementing them
  • Markets merchandise by studying advertising, sales promotion, and display plans
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

Position Requirements

Formal Education & Certification

  • Work requires communications, analytical and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor’s degree program or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
  • Requires 3 or more years of experience in retail management, corporate environment or related area(s)
  • Firearms background preferred
